Hello All!

This was the second to last episode (or penultimate in SAT books) of the show and I can’t believe how quickly time has gone by for me. As the show comes to its dénouement it really begins to encapsulate the high-intensity lifestyle that most people in New York experience, and what makes the city unique. Candace Bushnell is famous for writing Sex and the City and I love her description of New York as:

"...a city of energy vampires – people really feed on each others’ energies and that’s why New Yorkers talk fast and gesture and they’ll come in and say ‘Oh my God you won’t believe what happened!’ That’s a normal greeting in New York."

One example of this is Taylor’s relationship with Cole; in a very short time-frame Cole went from being the ex-boyfriend, to boyfriend, to the ex-boyfriend yet again. If no one understood why I didn’t want a serious boyfriend in high school, can you understand now? While having a boyfriend certainly comes with “benefits” it can also add to the unnecessary and sometimes petty drama that I already get from other aspects of my life even without the quickly changing tides of relationships. I like both Taylor and Cole and I really hope that they can either work things out or move on amicably.

Regarding this episode’s first scene, here’s a French word for Sebastian: touché. I love verbal jousting and being witty (although witty is basically just a fancy word for smart aleck,) but Sebastian really did get me at our meeting at the art gallery. I think both Sebastian and I have different means of attaining the same end (i.e. staying single,) so neither one of us can fully empathize with the other’s situation (or for that matter give each other advice.)

You are the only one who I'd like to see where you are in 10-20 yrs. I think you are one solid, intense young lady who has more drive and focus than anyone I've ever seen at your age. I also think you're not as frigid as you seem on the show. A young Samantha I think.

Camille,

Here’s another French saying Sebastian needs to learn: Savoir Faire.

This could probably explain why there’s such the gap in how the end is justified by your means versus his; most specifically I am referring to your comments regarding what charity work really is. Compassion is one of the most powerful and many times the most unexpected human characteristics. To truly feel the power of this, one must stay true to its original intent and that is the unconditional act of assisting those who are in need. However, we as humans fall so easily under the temptation of power that most often it is accompanied and masked under by the original intent of being charitable.

The following sayings by Jessie and Sebastian demonstrate this point so clearly (these are not verbatim):

Jessie after the Smile event <> (seriously makes you want to ask, was this event for charity work, or just to make Jessie feel incredible?)

Sebastian at his well building event <>

<> (not much to say here except adolescent boys are pretty predictable)

Unfortunately, Camille….I feel you could have and should have handled much better your reactions to how events unfolded for you….keep in mind that no one likes to eat sour grapes. You can’t control other people’s actions or attitudes, only your own. I urge you next year as a Leader and a Senior, that each day you wake up and ask yourself “Today…Do I want to be a better woman, or a bitter woman?”

This is also applies to your romantic relations….as you get older you will soon release you can’t just pick and choose who or when this happens. For example, Sebastian believes he has found the answer to all his problems <>

Yeah, sure….that is, in the end, all that is needed to truly fulfill your life!!!!

One more comment I’d like make regarding Sebastian’s flawless hair and even more flawless logic: <>

Yes, Sebastian you are a dog, especially considering the amount of ice alone used during that event would be the same amount of water produced a year by one of your wells, yet all you were thinking about was your ------ and your hair. Good luck in finding your hot b!tches.

You're the only rational one on the show.

I understand your intentions behind biting your tongue when confronted by that orange creation, (Jessie) but you need to put her in her place. You shine a light on young intelligent women who are NOT blindly taken over by guys and fashion, like every other female under twenty. People like you give me hope in humanity once again.

PS - Jesse seems more than a little full of herself. AND BTW FIT basically has open acceptance, it's ridiculous she's bragging about it.

Camille,

You once said something along the lines of, "I don't know any other 17 year old girl who has a stylist without having a professional career", regarding Kelli's experience with her new stylist, but at the beginning of the season, YOU had a stylist come and (attempt) to clean out your closet. What did you mean by that comment?

Hi Camille,
Promise yourself that when you are in a position to show Harvard to hopeful attendees (and you will be, I am certain) that you will NOT keep Scarlett's "cycle of abuse" going. Someone probably treated her that way when she came for a tour as a young woman; trying to belittle her and play on any insecurities she may have had. So she, in turn, tried to do that to you. She came off as pretentious and a real boor.
She didn't know who she was dealing with, did she?
